All about Cricket

Cricket is a sport which is played between two teams of eleven players each who score runs (points). This is done by hitting the ball across the boundary, or by running between two sets of three small, wooden posts called wickets.The wickets are at each end of a rectangle of short grass called 'the pitch'. The pitch is inside a much larger oval of grass called the 'area of play'. The area of play is a 30 yard circle inside the cricket ground or stadium.

The game started in England in the 16th century. The earliest definite reference to the sport is in a court case of 1598. The court in Guildford heard a coroner, John Derrick, that when he was a scholar at the "Free School at Guildford", fifty years earlier, "he and diverse of his fellows did run and play [on the common land] at cricket and other players Later, the game spread to countries of the British Empire in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Today, it is a popular sport in England, Australia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, New Zealand, the West Indies and several other countries such as Afghanistan,

The cricket pitch consist of central strip of the field.It is 24 yards long and 10 feet wide.The surface is flat and ground consist of grass.The ball will bounce off the pitch towards the batsman.There are different types of pitches like dusty,dry and also spin pitch and bouncy pitch, the ball will grip more on a dusty pitch.In matches some places of the pitch artificial pitches are also used.Batting will be held at both the end of the pitch.   

Batting is skill of hitting the ball  to score runs to defend the opponents.During the innings 2 batsmen will comes to the crease to open the innings in strike and non strike areas.When the batsman got out or any other health issues like injury will be replaced by teammate.During an innings two members of the batting side are on the other pitch at any time,the one who is facing the current delivery from the bowler is known as striker,the other one is called non striker. This will continue till end of  the innings

Bowling is a action of throwing a ball towards the batsman.A player with talented skills is called bowler,bowler who is also good in batting is known as all-rounder.There are different types of bowling actions like fast,medium action and spin bowling with different arms and different actions.There are certain rules in the match like wide,no ball and dead ball etc.Any decision in the cricket will be given by umpire itself.Bowlers can get batsmen out by hitting wickets ,LBW,catch etc.

 MY favourite player is Virat kohli.At a very young age he has achieved so much.UNDER 19 HE WON THE WORLD CUP in the year 2008 .He is also been awarded padamshree award.This achievement of his is very aspiring to youngsters in this era .The way he balances his work and life is commendable .He is my role model and I  want to be as successful as he is
